Player Success Guide
Welcome to the St. Paul Catholic football program! We're excited to have you as part of our team, and we believe in creating an environment where every player can reach their full potential. Here's a guide to help you be successful within our football program:
Respect Your Opponent, Play Hard Between the Whistles: Always respect your opponents, but when the game is on, give it your all. Play with intensity and sportsmanship between the whistles.
Straight Answers, Clear Communication: Keep communication straightforward. If a coach asks you something, respond with a clear "Yes, coach" to keep things moving efficiently.
Freedom of Expression: We support individuality. Express yourself within the boundaries of the team. Feel free to rock a blue mohawk if that's your style!
Collective Responsibility: Own both successes and failures as a team. We're in this together, and everyone plays a role in our journey.
Leave Everything on the Field: Give your 100% effort every time you step on the field. Don't hold back, and leave nothing in the tank.
Discipline Matters: Avoid unnecessary penalties. Keep your composure, and remember that discipline is key to success. No swearing on the field!
Have Fun and Cherish the Moment: Enjoy the game! Cherish every moment on the field, build lasting memories, and have fun with your teammates.
Embrace Where You Are: Understand that the big time is where you're currently at. Don't fall into the trap of thinking the grass is greener elsewhere. Focus on your growth here.
Recognition for Effort: Players who put in the extra effort should have the chance to showcase their skills on the field. Hard work pays off.
Maximize Your Gifts: Make the most of your talents. Don't disgrace the gifts you've been given by not putting in the effort to develop and excel.
Create Your Own Luck: Luck is a combination of preparation and opportunity. Seize the moment and make the most of the opportunities that come your way.
Values: Attitude, Commitment, Respect, Performance: Control your attitude in the face of adversity. Commit to excellence in all aspects of your life. Treat others with respect, and perform at your best when it matters.
Adversity Builds Character: How you respond to adversity defines you. Face challenges with a positive attitude, and let adversity be a stepping stone to growth.
Inclusion in the Program: Our football program is inclusive. Everyone has a place, whether you're a special needs student-athlete, a foreign exchange player, or a female athlete. All individuals will be coached and treated with respect.
Consequences for Misconduct: Throw your helmet, and you won't just sit on the bench – you'll be on the bus. Answer adversity with composure and resilience.
Remember, we're a team, and together we can achieve greatness. Welcome to St. Paul Catholic football!
